Florida is my all-time favorite TV mom

the dad was always yelling because of the struggles of trying to raise a family while battling racism and dismal economic times

her husband didn't want her to because he said black women had to work too hard when there were no jobs for black men, and he didn't want her to have to since his generation had good jobs. That was the 1970s. How times have changed for us all.

He ultimately quit the show because it had become too silly and focused on the foolish "dyn-o-MIIIIIITE" nonsense. And he was right. It was still good after he left, but it lost something when he did. Some of it's bite. Some of it's reality. Some of it's heart.
