New York Times: "Despite being dinged for conspicuous real estate consumption in 2012, he's building a not-at-all-humble mansion in Utah, with 5,900 square feet of living space, an outdoor gazebo, fire pit and spa. (Another 1 Percent touch: a 'secret door' leading to a storage room.) It will be Mr. Romney's fifth home - or his fourth - details, details - if he manages to sell his $12 million waterfront estate in La Jolla, Calif. (of car-elevator fame)"###

what a freaking scam. He has no "income" per se, just a lot of loans.

(45,251 posts)income taxes. He does not pay a huge percentage of his income in taxes, but he pays income taxes. If he borrows, that is in addition to the taxable income he gets from Bain.
This was discussed at length during the 2012 campaign.

(45,251 posts)Will he have the same size planet as the less wealthy Mormons? Or does income inequality continue throughout all eternity?
Does valuation of a planet go strictly by square footage, or does location matter?
Where is God's planet? Doesn't He deserve one?
Will Mitt's planet have a garage elevator for his planet rover vehicles?
Inquiring minds want to know!

(45,251 posts)he never paid a cent more than he owed. However, for the year he produced--when he finally got done with his return, he owed less than 13.5%, but paid more. Guess he had to pick which thing to make himself a liar about and opted for "I never pay a cent more than I owe." Bet that was a tough choice, though maybe a bit less of a tough choice after that video hit the fan.
