Fri Nov 21, 2014, 09:33 PM

We are all human beings sharing one planet.

If every job in the U.S.A. pays a comfortable living wage, and ALL workers, documented or not, are protected from abusive employers, then "taking away jobs" isn't really a concern, is it? Working supposedly makes the world a better place for all of us, otherwise why work?

People wouldn't come here if they couldn't find work here. Unfortunately, as things are now, employers are able to abuse immigrant workers and dispose of them whenever they are no longer useful or they start asserting their basic human rights.

I suspect some employers call immigration raids upon themselves so they can get a fresh desperate hungry workforce. Pay the fine, get on with business.

In a just world any corporation that abuses workers would suffer a corporate death penalty. The shareholders would get nothing, and top executives and board members would have their assets seized and go to prison.

The documented or undocumented worker who was just cutting up chickens, picking strawberries, writing code, whatever, would at worst have to go back home or find another job here.

I think anyone who finds work here in the U.S.A. and pays their taxes deserves legal status and eventual citizenship. Otherwise our theories of opportunity, free markets, and capitalism are a cruel farce.

Yes, I think easy access to birth control and sex education ought to be universal.

But the U.S.A. has a despicable history of racism.

We are still a white Christian Protestant English-speaking-only xenophobic untraveled ignorant fearful authoritarian and apartheid nation in so many ways.

WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) vowed Friday to push back against President Barack Obama's executive action shielding up to 5 million unauthorized immigrants from deportation, accusing him of sabotaging any chances of comprehensive legislative action to reform the immigration system.

The president announced Thursday his intentions to shield from deportation up to 4 million parents of American citizens and up to 1 million other people who live in the United States without proper documentation, prompting howls of rage from Republicans.

Boehner said he would not stand by and let Obama accomplish his plan, but did not say how or when.

"With this action, the president has chosen to deliberately sabotage any chance of enacting bipartisan reforms that he claims to seek. And as I told the president yesterday, he's damaging the presidency itself," Boehner said in a news conference outside his Capitol Hill office.

You have a background check that involves affirming your former allegiance and lack of criminal record. You put your name on a roll, swear yourself in as a US citizen, and here's your social security card.

Hell, that's still more strict than what most of our ancestors faced coming here- couldn't exactly run backgroudn check on every Jans Schubergruski coming in from Dntnonkchkr, Poland, could we?

A president i campaigned for - because i AM allowed to and i like 'democratic traditions' (cia factbook usa==republic with strong democratic traditions)
A president i Respect - because in some cases (expect less than 50% out of politicians) he comes through

and yes I can't vote because i'm a LEGAL alien (LPR, Legal Permanent Resident, ie..i can serve in the army (or be called up), i have to pay taxes, i can't cash in on most welfare or vote(except for some unclear local elections which still might mess up the immigration status so..you know..just keep clear) , i consider that fair till I'm a citizen )
