The man's supporters took to social media on Wednesday to share his side of the story, saying the man had been holding his daughter's asthma inhaler when the officer fired Monday night.
Officer J.C. Garcia hasn't been placed on leave in the wake of the shooting, a JSO spokesperson said Tuesday.
The officer drew and fired his weapon under the mistaken belief that the driver was holding a gun. In fact, Brian Dennison, 29, was unarmed, and had his 6-year-old daughter in the car with him.

Dennison was arrested on misdemeanor charges of knowingly driving with a suspended license and driving with a suspended license. He is currently in the Duval County Jail.

Autopsy Results Reveal Murdered College Student Shot 7 Times, Then Cuffed By Police. Was unarmed.
Nearly two months ago, NewsOne reported on the tragic case of Kendrec McDade (pictured), the California college student and football star who was killed by Pasadena cops while they were responding to a robbery. Now that McDades autopsy report has been released, its been revealed that he was shot seven times at close range and handcuffed afterward, according to the L.A. Times.

After cell phone store worker Oscar Carrillo lied to authorities that the two men who stole his backpack were armed, Jeff Newlen and Mathew Griffin came to the scene. Soon after, they began pursuing McDade who was on foot. Reportedly, when the student allegedly reached for his waistband, one of the officers, who was said to be sitting in the patrol car, fired four rounds at McDade. The second officer, who was on foot, fired yet another four rounds because he believ[ed] his partner was involved in a firefight.
Both Newlen and Griffin went on record, stating that they realized McDade was unarmed after they had already shot him. Even more upsetting, though, is that the coroner was able to determine that McDade was handcuffed for a period of time after the shooting.
Of course, Pasadena Lt. Phlunte Riddle quickly defended the officers actions of handcuffing the teen after he had already been shot. Procedurally, until an individual has been deemed to be no further threat, the officer can use discretion to unhandcuff, said Riddle.

A previous grand jury had ruled that deadly force was not authorized. That grand jury had asked the district attorney's office to take further measures.
Cole Law, an attorney for Roupe's family said they were stunned by the second grand jury's decision not to bring charges against Gatny
Gatny remains on administrative leave. Euharlee Police Chief Terry Harget said that Gatney and the department will talk over the next several weeks about her future. He would not elaborate. He said if she does return to the force, it won't be for several weeks.

(6,699 posts)Are any of these cops returning from the front in Iraq or Afghanistan? ...or are they getting their training from Israeli military forces? I've seen a video a month back sharing information that our police forces are getting training from the same thug Israeli Army that has been oppressing the Palestinian population.
Just asking.
