(7,908 posts)15 times (IIRC) while Fullerton, CA cops beat him into a coma from which he later died. The beat-down happened in full public view and the two officers (of the six present) who faced trial were acquitted by an Orange County jury.
DU should boycott Orange County (including Disneyland in Anaheim). And DUers should make every effort not to travel to Orange County - you're taking your life into your hands if you do.
Sorry, don't mean to derail your thread, but Kelly Thomas (RIP) was what first got me interested in this issue.

(21,925 posts)They actively continued causing him to die, despite being warned 11 times that he was heading for anoxia, which is a total depletion in the level of oxygen in the body, which can cause brain damage and eventually death. This didn't just involve a failure to provide medical attention or render aid. This involved an intentional, premeditated, and deliberated act that caused death. This was murder.

(3,580 posts)Who pretended the man was alive. The total indifference to this mans life from the moment they put their hands on him to pretending he wasn't dead is an abomination. They're psychopaths.
He meant nothing to them. He was the local pain in the ass. They knew him. They had no regard for his life for years. You can bet more than one of them thought we won't have to deal with this pia again. I can't breath means you're killing me. There is no ambiguity. They murdered him. 1st degree to all of them
