Things are Looking Up
December 26, 2014
By Taegan Goddard

Politico: “Mitt Romney promised to bring unemployment down to 6 percent in his first term; it’s already down to 5.8 percent, half the struggling eurozone’s rate. Newt Gingrich promised $2.50 gas; it’s down to $2.38. Crime, abortion, teen pregnancy and oil imports are also way down, while renewable power is way up and the American auto industry is booming again. You don’t have to give credit to President Barack Obama for ‘America’s resurgence,’ as he has started calling it, but there’s overwhelming evidence the resurgence is real. The Chicken Littles who predicted a double-dip recession, runaway interest rates, Zimbabwe-style inflation, a Greece-style debt crisis, skyrocketing energy prices, health insurance “death spirals” and other horrors have been reliably wrong.”

“Come to think of it, the 62 percent of Americans who described the economy as ‘poor’ in a CNN poll a week before the Republican landslide in the midterm elections were also wrong.”

except when they vote our way. It may be the masses know more about their individual economic situation than the well-paid economists spouting out how well the 1% are doing.

Although (outgoing!) Gov. Corbett was overruled as to requiring photo IDs at the polls, at least 75% of voters came in with their photo ID's out and ready.

obviously Republican policies are the best thing for America!

( you know that's what the right will be pushing and most of the voters are stupid enough to believe it even though they haven't even started yet.)

But people that watch and believe Fox News propaganda are mostly stupid.

Either that or are rich and greedy and like hearing about policies that will pay them more.

6. The local radio wingnut was ragging on the upticks in everything

When the news on Wednesday was all about the record stock market and the dropping unemployment rate, he recruited a local broker to interview about what it all meant, totally not referencing the Democratic administration. When I e-mailed that with all the items of up-market, down-unemployment, crashing-Russia how come no reference to OBAMA. He replied ballistically that the stock market and all "does not affect YOU and it's NOT OBAMA's economy!1"

He was asking on the radio whether “it’s good or bad” that: 1) stock market busting records, 2) gas prices busting downward, and 3) unemployment busting downward! Not to mention that Russia is crashing.

If Shrub were pRESIDENT, the wingnuts would have NO question about it, would be claiming the victory of Rethug VOO DOO, would be totally CLAIMING CREDIT for Shrub, would be ECSTATIC!1

Uh, I distinctly remember how the top talking point of the wingnuts for the first four years or more was that OBAMA was blaming all the ills on Shrub and that he now "owned" the economy and needed to take the rap for himself.

Jake Tapper delivered CNN's official Top Ten Political Stories of 2014...and every fucking one was a fucking Republican talking point or a direct attack on Obama...not one ducking good news story, not one mention of the economy or health care....or the GOP crazy talk.

I almost gasped at the fucking chutzpah of CNN to spew this propganda for the GOP without worrying about any meaningful consequence.

The wages of the bottom 90% continue to drop, and the temporarily lower gas prices don't change that.
