Free online courses - edX - great universities

[link:https://www.edx.org/about-us|

We're empowering learning in the classroom and around the globe

At edX, we believe in the highest quality education, both online and in the classroom.

EdX was created for students and institutions that seek to transform themselves through cutting-edge technologies, innovative pedagogy, and rigorous courses.

Through our institutional partners, the xConsortium, along with other leading global members, we present the best of higher education online, offering opportunity to anyone who wants to achieve, thrive, and grow.

Our goals, however, go beyond offering courses and content. We are committed to research that will allow us to understand how students learn, how technology can transform learning, and the ways teachers teach on campus and beyond.

As innovators and experimenters, we want to share what we discover. The edX platform is available as open source. By conducting and publishing significant research on how students learn, we will empower and inspire educators around the world and promote success in learning.

Our aim is to become a leading resource for learners and learning worldwide by staying focused on the goals and principles set forth when forming edX:

Our goals
•Expand access to education for everyone
•Enhance teaching and learning on campus and online
•Advance teaching and learning through research

Our principles
•Nonprofit
•Open source platform
•Collaborative
•Financially sustainable

EdX is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is governed by MIT and Harvard.[/b]

I have taken several of these courses and yes, have audited them ........ FOR FREE. I have learned and enjoyed taking them a great deal and since I live in the middle of no where, I would never be able to have the kind of exposure to this level of leaning experience. Maybe you should think twice about your (snide) remark about my post being a "commercial". Some of us learn for the joy of learning and not just to earn a piece of paper.

I was just trying to pass on to others something good. I didn't realize that there is a DU "big brother" questioning people with only "100 posts" ..... I don't desire to argue with you but you do come of as if you are some kind of angry gate keeper.

Looks good. I was wanting to take a statistics class (Yes, I'm a glutton for punishment) and was looking for a free good class I can take online. They seem to have one from U.C. Berkeley so I probably audit that one. Thanks again for providing the post (Please forgive the knee jerk reaction of a previous poster. Some people here shoot off their opinions without realizing how wrong it is).

I'm finishing my MBA this May, but I'm already considering a second master's in business analytics - all stats based. There will be at least a year before I start another program, but I'll probably take another stats refresher before the second program.

and a random variables class in college but I barely squeaked by. I still can't figure out the probability of an event if my life depended on it. I have great respect for those people who can wrap their heads around this stuff. My hat is off to you for grinding it out! (Personally, I think it's tougher than a lot of the engineering classes I took).

I don't think I've retained much of it though. Haha. If I really decide to do the business analytics matters I'll definitely need a refresher.

I need to stay in my current position at work through September 2016 (for the resume/experience). Then my plan is to look for a transfer down to Houston and get in the Texas A&M program. But a lot can happen between now and then.

I don't care for online classes, I don't have the discipline. I like going to lectures.

I've already found a course I want to take and I've only been on the site for 15 seconds.

I've taken courses through Coursera and loved them but I'd never heard of EdX--thanks a million!
