I suspect that many - if not most - on DU know that the area in question is both massively over-populated and politically and socially disadvantaged . . . so what is your point?

uninhabitable? And our international corporations are polluting what is left of it.

They are in trouble but I am not sure what can be done. Especially by the west. They are not going to like our interference.

Australia is more than 3 times the size of Greenland, so that hasn't quite got there, though it's better than a Mercator projection.
