1. Was the murderous caricature of Islam being shown the same pictures by the Western shrink?

This is not illustrative of religious hypocrisy so much as hate of Islam.

"All Muslims are crazed murders"?

It's "I'm proud to be an Islamophobe!" day on DU. Posts that in the past would have easily been hid by juries are today being celebrated and lauded.

6. Got to wonder why that has changed, why hate speech like this is acceptable.

There are virtually no (possibly literally no) Muslim-majority societies where freedom of speech is legally protected.

12. I find your response ironic. The issue is freedom to publish cartoons w/o fearing reprisal.

Yet you want to censure this cartoon because you think it portrays "All Muslims are crazed murders". I want to emphasis the "you think" part. Seems you think that you should be able to decide. Not really being very open minded and considering that maybe, just maybe you don't understand the cartoon. I don't agree with your interpretation of this cartoon.

16. Having the pictures splashed all over the world to incite more hatred may also be the goal?

These two or three young men had no goal in truth. They are madmen.

Did Timothy McVeigh have a goal? Madness has no end gsme.

They shouted, “We have killed Charlie Hebdo. We have avenged the Prophet Mohammad." That was the goal.

13. It's certainly true that you could do a similar cartoon about American Christofascists.

Still, that fact doesn't make this cartoon hate speech or the like. This week, the murderous intolerance of some Muslims happens to have monopolized the front pages, to the (temporary) exclusion of the murderous intolerance of some Christians.
