Dick Cheney Targeted By Anti-Torture Protesters

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/10/dick-cheney-torture-protesters_n_6449352.html

WASHINGTON, Jan 10 (Reuters) - Two protesters were arrested at the McLean, Virginia, home of former Vice President Dick Cheney on Saturday after 20 demonstrators, some in orange prison jumpsuits, walked onto his property to mark the 14th anniversary of the opening of Guantanamo Bay prison.

The protesters from the anti-war group Code Pink walked up to the house before police arrived and asked them to leave, said Fairfax County police spokesman Roger Henriquez. Two members who refused to go were arrested on trespassing charges, he said.

Police identified the two as Tighe Barry, 57, and Eve Tetaz, 83, both of Washington DC. The pair face misdemeanor charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct, police said.

Another Code Pink group demonstrated without incident outside the home of CIA Director John Brennan, also in the Washington, D.C. suburb of McLean, as part of its "Guantanamo Anniversary Weekend Torturers Tour."

They are wonderful, they have never stopped seeking justice even though many have gone silent on what used to be a huge issue.

That is wonderful and I hope he was home when they were there.

According to Powell's COS Cheney fears being prosecuted for torture. He should, he boasted publicly about it. What are they waiting for?

He's one of the biggest terrorists on this planet.America should be ashamed that he and bush and all the rest aren't in prison.I hope the thought of being arrested haunts their every waking moment.
What they have done to the human race makes me furious.

so I can't comment on what drives him. I can say with certainty that he has a lot to answer for, and that those answers should be made before a war crimes tribunal or a federal court before death lets him cheat justice in this world.

Whether or not the Cheney crime family acknowledges it, they will absolutely know the game isn't over.

The day's sun burns brighter whenever I hear the Cheney's look out their window and see the America they helped create come back at them.

Fuck you, Mr. Cheney, and Bless you, Code Pink.

A sad day of contemplating the human horrors and suffering this vile man is responsible for.

And sad that this bastard satan's spawn was never brought to justice.

chicken shit chicken hawks is that they advocate for war but avoided military service when they were young.

Cheney's Five Draft Deferments During the Vietnam Era Emerge as a Campaign Issue
By KATHARINE Q. SEELYE
Published: May 1, 2004

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/05/01/politics/campaign/01CHEN.html

WASHINGTON, April 30 — It was 1959 when Dick Cheney, then a student at Yale University, turned 18 and became eligible for the draft.

Eventually, like 16 million other young men of that era, Mr. Cheney sought deferments. By the time he turned 26 in January 1967 and was no longer eligible for the draft, he had asked for and received five deferments, four because he was a student and one for being a new father.

In an increasingly vituperative political campaign, Mr. Cheney this week again questioned the credentials of Senator John Kerry and his ability to be commander in chief. Mr. Kerry, who was decorated in Vietnam and has made his service there a central element of his campaign, fired back.

Putting Mr. Cheney's record in the spotlight, Mr. Kerry said that he "got every deferment in the world and decided he had better things to do."

Elizabeth Cheney, Deferment Baby

How Dick Cheney dodged the Vietnam draft.
By Timothy Noah

March 18 2004 5:09 PM

http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/chatterbox/2004/03/elizabeth_cheney_deferment_baby.html

The Senator from Massachusetts has given us ample doubts about his judgment and the attitude he brings to bear on vital issues of national security," Vice President Dick Cheney said during a March 17 visit to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. He was talking, of course, about John Kerry, the putative Democratic presidential nominee. During the past three years, we've all become better acquainted with Vice President Cheney's judgment and attitude toward national security, which are a good deal more hawkish than Kerry's. A widely observed irony is that the dovish Kerry saw combat in Vietnam while the hawkish Cheney accepted a series of student and family-related draft deferments. Cheney's unself-consciousness about this is (or at least was) so pronounced that in 1989 he told George C. Wilson of the Washington Post, "I had other priorities in the '60s than military service."

What Chatterbox never realized until recently, however, is that Cheney's eldest daughter, Elizabeth Cheney, likely owes her very existence to her father's avoidance of the Vietnam draft.
