http://www.timesofisrael.com/attacks-blamed-on-shape-shifting-jews/A Daily Beast reporter told MSNBC that she had received that explanation while surveying people about the attacks that left 17 people dead, including four Jewish men, in Pariss immigrant sections.
Many people, Dana Kennedy said, were of the opinion that Jews had staged the series of deadly terror incidents to make Muslims look bad, though one went even further with his explanation.
One person told me that they werent just regular Jews that were doing this but in fact but a race of magical shape-shifting Jews that were master manipulators that could be everywhere at the same time, Kennedy said.

(45,251 posts)First and foremost, obviously, the comment about shape shifting Jews is revolting.
But second is this:
But, if you are at least one member of Pariss French-Algerian community, it could have been the work of magical shape-shifting Jews.
If you believe the view expressed was the view of one person, why not simply name the person who made the vile comment instead of implying that the French-Algerian community is somehow involved in the comment of one person? On the other hand, if you believe that the comment does represent the sentiment of a significant portion of the community, as such, say so plainly and do the journalistic work necessary to back up your statement.
As this sits, though, it's an ugly bit of slanting.
I am not favoring Jews over Muslims or Muslims over Jews. I am criticizing bad journalism and smearing and bigotry in general. Those things are heinous, regardless of the identify of their target.

(45,251 posts)the entire French Algerian community, and the headline of the article.
I am not really sure what you are trying to say to me, or maybe what you are trying to convey to me without actually saying it. Or why.
Do you think that this particular reporter did a good and/or fair job? Or that the statement of one person who happens to be French Algerian shows that many or all French Algerians think Jews are shape shifters? (Granted, this is not an exact analogy, but please let's not get bogged down in that.)
What if there were racially motivated killings in Boston and the killers had been ID'd as Democrats. And, there had been a lot of media around this pointing out that these killings racial killings were done by Democrats,. I said something heinously racist to a reporter and the news story said, "According to at least one Massachusetts Democrat...." making it seem that my ugly statement had some connection to both the killings and to Democrats in general? Would that be conscientious and fair reporting? I know that headlines are not always written by the author of the article, but by using the passive voice (which journalists are supposed to avoid), the headline really makes it seem that the sentiment goes way beyond one person saying something.
Again, I am not saying that there is no connection, nor am I saying that there is. All I am saying is that the reporter seems to have wanted to imply that connection via a smear based on what a single asshole said, rather than by doing the work a reporter should do to establish a connection between an entire community and a very ugly comment by one person. If a journalist wishes to show that a entire community feels a certain way, the reporter should not do that by taking a bizarre and vile comment of one person. A lot of other work needed to be done first. On the other other hand, if the reporter doesn't want to do the work, they don't have the right to make the connection by smearing and implying that the view is not an isolated one.

(4,259 posts)Why discuss something so pathetic? It's not worth putting it out so members can try to outdo each other in their scorn of the message.
Kind of like why talk about Sarah Palin? Can anything positive come from it? Other than venting. Really annoying. It offers nothing that might be positive.
I'll never post about Glenn Beck

I'll never post about Bachmann. She's history. Can't care.

I see this discussion as having the equivalent value of talking about a birth defect, or a crippling injury. Sad stuff but not likely to generate anything meaningful.

Then there's asshat Wayne Madsen, who is sure it was a false flag attack by Western Intelligence agencies.
Can DU's resident tin-toilers be far behind? Both Barrett and Madsen, among others, are used as sources at DU, and defended as credible by less-discerning DUers.

I once met someone who genuinely believed that Christianity was a Jewish conspiracy designed to control the world, and that he was being persecuted for trying to "out" them. He explained how they used "Torish(sp?) mind control stones" to brainwash his wife and daughter so that they would leave him and destroy his life.
Mental illness comes in many forms, and some people have a VERY loose grip on reality.

(29,322 posts)Ántįįhnii are the witches who become the famous Navajo shape-shifters, the Skinwalkers. They use the animal forms they can assume to travel surreptitiously to the áńtįbáhoołan, and to deliver their áńtį in secret. Frequently, the words yee naaldlooshii and ántįįhnii are used interchangeably.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witch_%28Navajo%29#Skinwalkers:_yee_naaldlooshii
Living in Flagstaff, the subject came up and we are in the same vehicle. I asked 2 Navajo if they've seen one and both said yes and seemed serious too. One said he seen one at a distance, then reappeared halfway, then reappeared right in from of him then vanished. This he claimed happened on the reservation.
The other and her story is harder to remember. Inside her home for some reason she needed to check the window and there was one standing outside in front of the window then vanished. This was on the reservation too.
Described it as a shape shifting creature that can travel at the speed of light. This is from 2001 so my memory is hazy on the details but they didn't indicate they were messing with me and they are the type that would (especially the window one, she never messed with me or tried to be funny in that way) or any appearance they were. Whether or not they really did or they really exist, I don't know. No one I know claimed to see a "burning bush" though.
There is also a Skinwalker Ranch in Utah but is nicknamed "UFO ranch" due to the unusual sightings claims.
