Chamber Of Commerce Head (Lobbyist) Criticizes 'Economic Populist' Elizabeth Warren

Chamber Of Commerce Head Criticizes 'Economic Populist' Elizabeth Warren
1/14/15

By Susan Cornwell

WASHINGTON, Jan 14 (Reuters) - The head of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce charged on Wednesday that Senator Elizabeth Warren and other backers of what he called "economic populism" were actually seeking a state-run economy.

Thomas Donohue, the chamber's president and a top business lobbyist, said he did not think most Americans shared the views of Warren, a liberal Democrat and Wall Street critic who is considered a possible presidential contender. She has denied interest in running for the White House.

"Today we're hearing a lot of talk about so-called economic populism. Its advocates claim they are standing up for the average citizen - but what they really stand for is the unbridled growth of the central government and a state-run economy," Donohue said a speech about American business to the Chamber.

Donohue then told reporters that Warren was one of many "economic populists running around in the Congress" who he said favored more regulation, and even government control, of U.S. companies.

Warren is "a very pleasant woman if you sit down and have a cup of tea with her, or a drink, but we don't share her views on the economy and on where the American economic system ought to be headed," he said at a news conference.

"If she runs for president, I don't think the American people will share her views either."

There was no immediate comment from Warren's office.

Wow, they're really worried they're going to lose corporate control of our government that's supposed to represent living breathing citizens of the USA.

This is so revealing to me.

What do you guys think??

when it comes to a corporate-state relationship that benefits multinationals (fascism)! He wants corporate welfare which only government can dole out. THAT kind of government control is A-OK with him and the CoC.

The Chamber of Commerce just spent a shit load of money trying to defeat the congressman from my district, Republican Justin Amash, because Amash is anti corporate welfare. They were not successful.

and they tried to oust him in the primary. He's a small government, little "r" type, and a staunch supporter of the Bill of Rights. He's also been punished by Boehner and sidelined for not being a good corporate bootlicker.

because it further exposes the agenda of the CoC. It's not just the positions of Elizabeth Warren they don't like. They want total fascism and anyone, including little r republicans who oppose it are also the enemy. That primary was one of the dirtiest smear campaigns I have ever witnessed, btw. I was thrilled when it backfired so badly and it did show that the voters weren't having any of their crap.

They do the same thing they did to Senn to other candidates Corporations pick out to be attended too.So if you are a candidate with 2 mil. to run with they will give their boy 10 million.Nice!
I know Debbie, she is a great person and a lot of Medical people raised hell about what was done to her.But no one saw it coming until the last week before the election.
