that we had to wear the hand-me-down bread bags from other people as they moved on to plastic wrap for clothing and shelter. We were so poor that we only had one light in the entire house and had to take it out and put it in a light socket if we wanted to see something in that room. We took turns using it.

Thankfully today I make a lot of money and can afford designer bread bags.

the world will forever picture Senator Ernst with bread bags on her feet. and a gal who cuts off the man parts from pigs. ....
and i never wanna hear her speak again, She is SUCH A WHINER. i only had 1 pair of shoes too and all the girls laughed at me because they were saddle shoes. But you know what, i have never whined about it in public. I just sucked it up like a big girl and learned what is really important. Gotta laff at her because she is such a buffoon.

Senator Breadbags was born in 1970. Nobody wore bread bags on their feet in the seventies or eighties! Is she trying to make it look like she was a Depression kid?

My husband was farming with his father in the seventies and eighties. In the seventies, we had three dollar corn, which was very good. Farmers were not all that poor. It was at least a decade before the bottom dropped out and the corn prices were half of that.

The story about the plastic bags in her shoes -- it's probably true. I put them in my shoes in college because I was in a cold climate, and my shoes had holes and sometimes I wore tennis shoes -- cloth shoes in the snow.

It's jokes like this that alienate a lot of people from some in the Democratic Party.

Hey. I slept in an unheated dorm in below zero weather in college. It's not fun being poor. Wasn't then. Isn't now.

How about some compassion.

I wore mine inside my shoes. It''s a good trick on rainy or snowy days.
