Senator Bernie Sanders: Tell Congressional Leaders: Democracy isn't for Sale

Five years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down one of the worst decisions in our nation's history, Citizens United. My friend Russ Feingold said it best: “Speech doesn't corrupt, money corrupts. And money isn't speech.”

Washington can't be an auction house for corporate interests. That's why I'm uniting with progressives across the country to demand that congressional leadership slam the door on corporate money.

It is not acceptable that billionaire families like the Koch brothers are able to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to buy elections.

Join us in telling congressional leaders: democracy isn't for sale!

acting Kabuki theater, and then all getting together and swilling brandy and eating filet mignon, afterwards. Checking their bank balances.

to be free to develop legislation and to vote as they see fit..for the good of the country.

I may be very naive in that thinking, yet it seems to me, they, collectively, would
rather not spend most of their time fund raising and begging..then being indebted as a result.
Kind of goes against our human nature to do so..sort of. Public funded elections would
weed out a lot of bad eggs, too. So I am hopeful, but it's limited, I have to admit that.
