General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe three top NY state government officials from January 1, 2008 have been arrested
Governor Eliot Spitzer: Prostitutes
Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno: Convicted of "corruption" (mail and wire fraud, violations of honest services law). Acquitted on retrial.
House Speaker Sheldon Silver: Arrested today for "corruption" (mail fraud, wire fraud and extortion)
Add in David Paterson not running for re-election because of "abuse of power" allegations.
And no matter how much NYers try to clean it up, it seems to continue to go wrong. The Silver arrest came from Cuomo canceling the Moreland Commission.

(5,455 posts)If the FBI and the US District Attorney have more or will find more on Silver that would get him 10+ years in jail, Silver would likely spill everything he knows to avoid or minimize the length of time he spends in jail. At 70, even in a minimum security prison, life isn't going to be easy for him.
It will be interesting to see what the next several months bring in this investigation.
