Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) said during an appearance Thursday on a Christian television show that he's thinking about running for President to help the nation know where laws come from: God.
"We cannot survive as a republic if we do not become, once again, a God-centered nation that understands that our laws do not come from man, they come from God," he said on the show "Life Today."
When Huckabee added that he wasn't demanding a theocracy, host James Robison said, "We have a theocracy right now. It's a secular theocracy."
"That's it!" Huckabee said, describing the current political order as "humanistic, secular, atheistic, even antagonistic toward Christian faith."

(10,749 posts)the leading candidate for the Taliban Party. Or the ISIS wing of the GOP. I know this is a pointless question, but don't these morons see the equivalency between their positions and those of any religious extremists anywhere?
I have said this before, and I will repeat. If these people want to run on a theocratic platform, let them form their own party. If it takes 5 different members of the GOP clown posse to give a reply to the SOTU, then that must mean there are five opposition parties. They should at least have the balls to create their own party and run on their own individual platforms.

Your 'God' is useless, just like you.

(30,058 posts)God. Yep, Mike,we could just leave God in charge, he can handle everything and we could just not have a president.

(12,799 posts)Of course he's talking about marriage equality, women's reproductive rights, prayer in public schools and god helps those who help themselves.
Did I miss anything?
As long as Mike keeps his faith in his own home, I don't really have a problem with it, even though I think he's misguided. When he brings that tripe into the political sphere, you bet I have a problem.

(29,098 posts)His problem is he surrounds himself with so many people who believe his "brand" of religion that he has lost touch with the fact that the American people in general find this kind of talk out and out distasteful and a tad delusional.
I got to give him this though...It is kind of funny

(50,567 posts)From Leviticus 11:
1 The Lord spoke again to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them,
2 Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, These are the creatures which you may eat from all the animals that are on the earth.
3 Whatever divides a hoof, thus making split hoofs, and chews the cud, among the animals, that you may eat.
4 Nevertheless, you are not to eat of these, among those which chew the cud, or among those which divide the hoof: the camel, for though it chews cud, it does not divide the hoof, it is unclean to you.
5 Likewise, the shaphan, for though it chews cud, it does not divide the hoof, it is unclean to you;
6 the rabbit also, for though it chews cud, it does not divide the hoof, it is unclean to you;
7 and the pig, for though it divides the hoof, thus making a split hoof, it does not chew cud, it is unclean to you.
8 You shall not eat of their flesh nor touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.
9 These you may eat, whatever is in the water: all that have fins and scales, those in the water, in the seas or in the rivers, you may eat.
10 But whatever is in the seas and in the rivers that does not have fins and scales among all the teeming life of the water, and among all the living creatures that are in the water, they are detestable things to you,
11 and they shall be abhorrent to you; you may not eat of their flesh, and their carcasses you shall detest.
12 Whatever in the water does not have fins and scales is abhorrent to you.
13 These, moreover, you shall detest among the birds; they are abhorrent, not to be eaten: the eagle and the vulture and the [g]buzzard,
14 and the kite and the falcon in its kind,
15 every raven in its kind,
16 and the ostrich and the owl and the sea gull and the hawk in its kind,
17 and the little owl and the cormorant and the great owl,
18 and the white owl and the pelican and the carrion vulture,
19 and the stork, the heron in its kinds, and the hoopoe, and the bat.
(I didn't know what a hoopoe is either; it is a Middle Eastern bird that is a ravenous consumer of locusts.)
Four popular Southern church fundraisers: oyster roasts, shrimp feeds, crayfish boils and pig pickings. ALL illegal under a strict adherence to Biblical law.
Riddle me this, DU: The Bible contains the Book of Leviticus. In Leviticus we are told not to eat shrimp, not to eat pork, that a woman after childbirth has to wait either one month (if it's a boy) or two (if it's a girl) before she can go to church, to kill our children if they disrespect us, real estate can't be sold, and men aren't allowed to boink men. Well now...it's okay to eat shrimp, okay to eat pork, okay to go to church right after your baby's born, not okay to off Junior for disrespecting you, and okay to sell real estate...but it's STILL not okay for men to boink men?
