"It may have been too clever by half." - Aaron David Miller* on Netanyahu/GOP debacle | CNN

CNN's "Hour of Terror" host and Chief PR rep agrees....it is all fucked up...now for the fallout...look out below!

If I got this right there is near universal outrage in Israel about how Bibi is purposely undermining the American/Israeli alliance, with malice aforethought and for obvious political advantage.

So their fevered thoughts told them.

Now there is apparently a legal case before a court in Israel challenging media carrying any broadcast of the scheduled March 3 address to Congress, 14 days before a tight national election in Israel. Because of the secret negotiations, no meetings with Administration, and the incredible damage being done to relations, ALL kickstarted by the this burning and blind desire to.....reasons.

Left To Prevent Broadcast

Can you say "Backtrack", kiddies?

My only question now is, how much face will Obama let Bibi and Boehner save?

Also, Senator Menendez, is it really worth whatever you think it is worth, to fall in with this lot and sinking ship?

would go this far to weave a web of lies and distraction to protect them? Maybe they did. Who knows who was in on those still very secret and lengthy negotiations never before even attempted by an American Congress without notice to the Executive Branch. Never.

They forgot about the Israeli media.

Believe there is a UN meeting on ICC and Palestine in about the same time. Politics 101 isolate certain Political candidate by embarrassment, HRC. If you had read the Guardian, sounds like the back channel talks with Iran have been on going for several months. Noticed the other day Russia has joined in as well as England. Something big is about to blow.

They don't care what the secular media in Israel has to say or Israelis. Nor Jews anywhere. Conservative christians are their most reliable voting block, and they think the people running Israel that want peace are wrong. Remember the American nutbar who got into Israel intending to blow up the Dome of the Rock?

It's one of their signs of the end. I've noticed more Apocalyptic salesmen at local churches that put up those slick advertising banners. And more junk mail trying to get people to attend. I even have a very liberal Democratic, Christian friend who is getting sucked into the stuff at the church.

She was a public school teacher, does not believe in the Rapture, does believe in taking care of the poor, is pro-choice, for women getting ordained and same sex marriage. She's voted in favor of MJ legalization and same sex marriage and gets very indignant at the GOP's actions.

But they pushed the nuclear option on her about how many years we have left on this planet. They knew to send her to the same sources that talk about irreversable climate change and I gave her a ride to the library as she'd been given the name of a book to check out with a scientist's take on it.

It reads no different than many posts on DU predicting ecosystem collapse. She's very pro-environmental causes, social justice for all, anti-racist, etc. But they found the trigger.

Ecological disasters of exactly the kinds often described in threads at DU in what some consider valid, but others consider alarmist, are in the Book of Revelations. It's all there. They got her now.

We've also had discussions about the protestant (I can't speak for Catholics) belief that Jesus will come back and rule the world from Jerusalem. And that Jews have a different view and say Christians are wrong. Well, the RW christians say the Jews are wrong and will learn the error of their ways when Jesus comes back.

This is also a theme in Dominionism and why they are so aggressive. Some parlay the clash of civilizations, that is to say, Christianity fighting it out with the Devil's crew of non-believers, including Jews, Muslims, Hindus, whatever, in this physical realm.

They've all been carefully taught and they will show up at the polls. This entire meeting with Netanyahu is about that, as he's seen by them as the leader against the dark forces. They don't care who gets killed, so long as Team Jesus wins. Then, they say, like some mullahs in Iran, will the Second Coming come.

In my church growing up, we read the Bible and Jesus said there would be those who try to bring the Kingdom by force. They will fail. This simpler version of the progressive protestant faith I once held left it in God's hands. The Neo-Cons, the GOP, etc. aren't willing to do that.

It's been said, that good things come to those that wait, but the bad things are always in a rush to get here. Look at the rush to war by BushCo, or the Iran-Contra deal, all those October surprises. Bad things brought to bear by deception and then enacted fast and irreparably. Like selling off public assets, they will never return when the people that took them have them in their hands. Okay, I digress, as usual.

This is 2016 election politics. Rand supports a war for Israel. It's not even AIPAC as some claim, doing all this routine. It's the Dominionist world view that has inspired dissent in the ranks of the military as some want to go to war for God and have country mixed up with that.

I gotta go. Anyway, it's politics, and the GOP loses NOTHING by playing this card. If they are stopped, or even mocked, they will use it to convince RW christians that it's oppression of them which is also in the Bible.

Is it possible that this meeting might be called off? If so, it would be a severe blow to the GOP.

OTOH, severe blows to a brain-damaged organization doesn't help much but still...

How much humble pie should Obama make them eat to help them all out of the swamp they stepped in all on their own?

They have already postponed the date of The Secret Ball from February 11 to the even worse date of March 3, so instead of that quick little backtrack, hoping to put a lid on it they fucked up even more.

They need Obama's help, they need it bad when CNN abandons ship so obviously.

If they call it off, they piss off their respective bases.

If they don't call it off, they piss off everyone else. And the US not stopping the ICC could be rather 'awkward' for Israel.

If people are shown true conservatism they'll vote for it. Right?

Bibi will be a good guinea pig in his election. Assuming Bibi goes down in flames, they'll deny the rejection and blame it on the media or sumpin'.
