Michael Moore's ~crushing~ Facebook post back at his critics. WOW!

https://www.facebook.com/mmflint/posts/10152568343941857

"My 12 Years of Support for the Troops "

Well, who would know better about hating our troops than those who supported sending them into a senseless war Iraq in the first place?

And, for 4,482 of them, a senseless, unnecessary and regrettable death.

If you supported that invasion, if you voted for George W. Bush and the Republicans and Democrats who backed this war, then you are the ones who have some 'splainin' to do. Not me. You.

Here's the truth they can't or won't report: I'M the one who has supported these troops - much more than the bloviators on Fox News. To prove it (and I know this is going to crush some of you out there), here's just a partial list of all the things I do and have done for those men and women who serve -- and I guarantee you, you've never heard any of this reported about what the real me does because, frankly, it messes up their little story of the fictional "Michael Moore" they've created for your hate and enjoyment (please feel free to cut, paste and send this to your conservative brother-in-law):

** I allow local veterans support groups to use my theater to meet for PTSD issues, I host quarterly PTSD summits, and I've hosted a conference to start a jobs movement for vets in our town.

** I will NOT do business with vendors who don't have a policy to hire vets.

** From the Dept. of Irony: I only hire Navy SEALS and ex-special forces for when I need security - such as this week, when so-called supporters of those SEALs want me harmed.

** I am currently showing "American Sniper" at my theater that I helped restore and that I program and help run in Manistee, MI. Not because I like it, but because, unlike the other side, I'm not a censor.

Koolaid drinkers are conditioned to go apeshit over the mere mention of Moore's name. My moron of a sister-in-law saw "American Sniper" yesterday and immediately posted "Fuck Michael Moore" on her Facebook Wall. He coudn't say, do, or write anything to convince her and the rest of the brainwashed masses that he's anything other than a Communist who hates God, stomps on the flag, and kicks soldiers for fun.

I'll see a herd of unicorns tippy-toeing across my backyard before that happens, cwydro.

As the responses from Moore's supporters on his FB page stated, his critics never bothered reading Moore's explanation of things he's done for veterans. These people are cowards who hide behind their computers and regard warmongering as some sort of glorified sport that we are always going to win. They don't acknowledge the truth and the real consequences of war. USA! USA! USA!

I wrote a LTTE shortly after Poppy Bush's first invasion of Iraq in the early 1990s. Using RW media materials, I explained the U.S. hypocrisy in its invasion of Iraq and the fact that Saddam Hussein's weapons and chemicals that Bush used to justify this invasion were produced by U.S.-based corporations. I received hate mail and "anonymous" phone calls (this was before Caller ID) calling me every name in the book. Never mind I've been vindicated.

This indoctrination of the glory of our warmongering by the RW media has only gotten worse since then. The Faux Snooze and Queer Channel-brainwashed idiots that listen to them are beyond hope in my opinion.

but the word "queer" also means:
strange
unusual
peculiar
bizarre
weird
freakish
eerie

Those adjectives describe the characters on the Clear Channel talk shows.

If we're going to withhold using words because they may have alternative meanings that could offend somebody, we would be a society of mutes.

they've been making war movies for decades and westerns, and there's such a huge catalog and so many good ones (and of course, many more crummy ones), it's hard for any new one to stand out as particularly good.

I liked Inglorious Basterds though.

I will never trust his political judgment. He is talented, true, but he allowed himself to be used by the GOP--the same way that Hunter S. Thompson allowed himself to be used in 1972. Proving that the ambition of artists sometimes gets in the way of their good sense.

As a thinking adult, I don't always agree with you Mr. Moore. So I cannot say that I fully support your views, BUT I do fully support your right to express those views and I believe in your earnest wish to change the way our society is failing. I appreciate the work you are doing for our veterans, as a veteran myself I've had to rely upon the goodwill of others on some occasions.
To anyone else who reads this post I will say this: ALWAYS investigate what you read, see, or are told! Not everything you are shown is real and very little of what you are told is actually the complete story. Everything, even what I am telling you now, has a bias in it when it comes from another individual. We cannot help but place our own judgments, feelings, and ideas into what we share. It is the nature of human communication and cannot be avoided. You have to think for yourself and come to your own decision regarding the world as it is presented to you. We, as Americans, have become intellectually lazy and if we are going to pass on a world worth having we will have to wake up and act accordingly. I include myself in the last statement but I'm trying to improve.

Very little applause or cheers from all those leftie, communist, elite, arugula eating liberals, and even quite a few boo's. You can see just how uncomfortable they were. Shame on you Mr. Bush!

Unlike when all the liberal elite media laughed at the jokes by the idiot son at the White House correspondents dinner about him looking for WMDS, so so funny..uh...made me want to puke.

Not that I need to, but kudos to you, underpants, for reminding some on this very board of what MM has always tried to do. Ever since Roger and Me, I've gotten that message.

His next to last paragraph sums it up…

In the end, the thing I'm most proud of for what I've done for the troops was sticking my neck out 12 years ago to become a leading opponent to Bush and the war. I tried to save more lives than a sniper ever could hope to -- by preventing us from going to war in the first place. Well, I failed at that. But I've done everything else humanly possible to try and make it up to those troops when they return home -- that is, the ones lucky enough to return home.
