The child's biological mother is currently in jail and surrendered the child to CPS. The agency placed the baby in the home where the incident occurred at the request of the mother.
The adult female caretaker had just left for work before the drowning occurred, according to police.

I heard about this on the radio during my drive home. So sad.

Not sure about trying her as an adult, though waiting for the adult in the home to leave for work before committing the murder definitely looks like premeditation...

(26,582 posts)This morning on the drive in they were reporting a baby drowned and this evening that she was charged with capital murder.
She must have indicated premeditation for them to contemplate charging her as an adult. I'm against the death penalty, but being a minor I think that's a moot point. Either way for a 14 year old to commit such a horrendous crime, she needs serious therapy. I hope she gets help while in prison.
