1. That's pretty interesting.

I'm not surprised at the scientists answers on GMO foods, pesticides, and research using animals, but I didn't expect their numbers to be so low in favor of offshore drilling and fracking. I assume that to mean that they believe the risks outweigh the benefits.

2. Found only two I did not agree with the scientists. Animal research and pesticides. The pesticide

use is what I and others think caused my daughters disability. Of course that was in well water and not on food.

3. 65% of scientists favor building more nuclear power plants.

I find that scary. I take it the fact that nuclear power plants have a limited life time, they are incredibly expensive to decommission, and take years to do so, just doesn't factor in.

5. Large power output, no major CO2 emissions.

Scientists also tend to understand radiation and the risks better than the general population.

7. As someone who lives in the shadow of Fukushima Dai-ichi,

I'm probably more aware of the risks than a lot of those scientists. And having spent the last 25 years involved in some way with the scientific community, just hearing the word "scientist" doesn't automatically conjure up the same images of awe and respect that it used to do when I first started reading about them in Weekly Reader.

8. The 2% of scientists who don't think humans evolved....

Should be immediately fired.

10. They can't be fired.

They are not employed by the AAAS.

9. Fuck these scientists...

Astronauts are absolutely essential to the future of the US space program.

Probes are awesome. Rovers are awesome. Satellites are awesome. Astronauts are awesome.

Of course we don't have much of a space program left. I'd like to know the exact wording of the question in the poll. Perhaps that would shed some light on the responses and I'd find out (again) what my foot tastes like.
