How many people did Brian Williams' lie kill?

How many people did this lie kill?

Get a grip, CNN. ...... And I'm sure it's even worse on Faux, but I can't turn on that channel without becoming violently ill.

1. So it's ok that he lied about being on a bird that was forced down

by hostile ground fire?
We're supposed to overlook the fact that a newsman lied for 10 years about an incident like that?

But there it is, anyway.

3. I'm almost sure Brian Williams reported that lie many times during the runup to the Iraq War

And never once raised a question about Bush's veracity.

"He's not as bad as Fox" is hardly a ringing endorsement.

9. Part of lowering journalism standards, which has killed thousands in Iraq

The media doesn't feel it has to adhere to higher standards, so telling falsehoods to get US into war is part and parcel of the business. They need to know telling lies will get you canned

13. To the OP: I think I understand the point you're making here.

Among the litany of lies about Iraq, the false claim of Brian Williams is laughably inconsequential -- but given far more attention than the lies with huge costs in blood and treasure. If our national media reported truthfully and prioritized based on real world consequences, CheneyBush might have been prosecuted for war crimes by now.

Pointing that out is not intended to excuse Brian Williams, but to put the current brouhaha in perspective.
