How Do You Solve a Problem Like The Uppity Nuns?

......... Females starting to think for themselves? Showing a modicum of spirit, fire, individuality? This will not do. This way anarchy lies. What's next, lesbianism? Birth control? Acknowledging the Virgin Mary was a nasty myth designed to suppress 10,000 years of hotly fertile, goddess-based pagan belief? Oh wait.

Time for some changes. Time for the angry manhammer of fear to come down. The Vatican has given the LCWR five years to shape up, and it put a man in charge of the process. Because, being mere women, they obviously cannot think, act or figure it out by themselves. And God simply does not abide uppity females. Just ask Eve.

Is it not sort of amazing? Is it not all flavors of classic and timeless in its barely veiled misogyny? It's like 1884 all over again. Or was that 1484? 484? When were the witch trials? When was Hypatia beaten to death for liking math? I get confused.

To be perfectly honest, I can sympathize with the Vatican. Women are dangerous things. Unnerving. They can mess with your head, overwhelm the body, make you feel all sticky and tingly inside, like you just ate a giant chocolate cake made of lighting and orchids and MDMA. They throw you for a loop and take you for a ride and confuse all reality, so much so you can't help but see something as inane as organized religion as completely idiotic and small. It's something about their smell.

2. Why be upset? Paul Ryan, Catholic Congressional leader, just wrote *their* budget for the USA.

He's renounced Ayn Rand (well, not totally, since this would be her budget, too) and says his budget slashing food, housing and healthcare for the poor is in the keeping with what the Church really wants.

Maybe we should find out what the Pope really wants, since there are so many interpretations. Maybe the nuns and cardinals objecting to Ryan's budget and policis are following an outdated Pope or a Man who thought that the poor were worthy of help and comfort and not homelessness and death.

Time for the real leader of the faith to show himself, since his American spokemen, Ryan, Boehner and Gingrich have been selling a new version here.

Paul Ryan and John Boehner appear to have more power to enforce Church doctrine in the USA than the Vatican. So speak up or ex-communicate these guys speaking in your name or be regarded as part of the same cloth they are proving themselves to be, all for the rich and powerful and nothing for anyone else.

Personally, I prefer the nuns' take on the way things ought to be. Instead of these guys making it up as they go along, never having read the Sermon on the Mount. That version of Jesus appears to be out of date.

Go on ahead and make up your own version, although I'm not expecting it to read like the most powerful *Catholic* voices, Scalia, Ryan, Boehner, Gingrich, etc. I think you could do much better.

All Catholic dogma is contained in the Nicene Creed. Everything else they're trying to sell, including anti-Choice, is extrapolation from Jewish social laws.

11. There's more than meets the eye regarding the Vatican-nun flap

I'm thinking that the nuns might possibly have some knowledge about the un-Catholic, criminal, and sacrilegious behavior of the priests and bishops who perpetrated and/or covered up the sexual abuse of the kids in their dioceses, and the fact that Seattle archbishop Sartain, who's been accused of ordaining a pedophile priest who was convicted of molesting a boy.

A group that monitors abuse by priests says Sartain is known for something else, however: ignoring warning signs about a potential abuser.
This morning, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, known as SNAP, wrote a letter to the pope asking for Sartain's appointment to be rescinded.
"You are probably not aware of just how recklessly and secretively and callously he acted recently with a priest who pled guilty two weeks ago to molesting a boy as recently as January of this year," the St-Louis-based SNAP wrote of Sartain in the letter.

The letter is referring to the case of Father Alejandro Flores, convicted earlier this month of a sexual assault charge related to the abuse of an underage boy. Sartain, then the bishop of Joliet, Illinois, ordained Flores in the summer of last year--just a few months after church officials had found gay porn with young-looking boys on his computer, according to a press report quoted by SNAP.

Evidence is mounting that the Vatican is targeting the nuns to deflect attention away from their own complicity in the sexual abuse scandal, seeking the convenient scapegoat of "radical feminists" and "liberalism" in order to hide their own unspeakable sins and crimes. All this talk about the sisters' not preaching against abortion and same-sex marriage is a smokescreen to mask the corruption of the church leadership. Anything for the hierarchy to shift responsibility from themselves and their boys onto innocent women and children.
It is increasingly apparent that Opus Dei, along with their puppet government in the Vatican, is the power behind the throne, ordering the attack on the sisters of LCWR.
