Speaker of the House John Boehner and Prime Minister Netanyahus conspiracy to humiliate President Obama and dominate the news backfired as the U.S. broadcast networks ignored the speech and refused to televise it live.
Netanyahus speech has contained nothing new that the American people havent heard from neo-cons for decades. Netanyahu broke out various scare tactics with the purpose of frightening the American people into opposing President Obamas negotiations with Iran on a nuclear deal.
Republicans were hoping that they could divide Democrats and garner massive mainstream media attention by inviting Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress, but Boehners handling of the invitation has proven to be wildly unpopular with the American people. Television networks were also scared off by liberal and progressive Democrats who refused to attend the speech.
Speaker Boehner tried to use a traditionally bipartisan platform to pull off a partisan political stunt, and for once the mainstream media didnt play along. Boehners big gambit to assert his power failed, and Netanyahu delivered a stump speech for the voters back in Israel.

(24,728 posts)From Bibi's point of view, of course, why WOULDN'T he want big brother to come fight for and with him. Use up some of our vast stockpile of weapons.
I hope he loses big. ENOUGH PERPETUAL WAR!

(297,188 posts)Israeli television stations have been banned from broadcasting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to Congress live in order to keep the address from influencing the upcoming election.
Stations will be able to broadcast the speech with a five-minute delay after they remove any content that could be perceived as campaigning, according to The Telegraph.

Yes,there have been foreign leaders that have spoke before congress, they were invited through proper channels and never as a Political Revenge.

(12,132 posts)is that one click down is another PBS station that just plays real jazz all the time. Mingus, Coltrane, Miles...and a ton of stuff I haven't heard before.
For when I'm not listening to death metal.

(12,132 posts)Although if pressed, I couldn't tell you what it IS either..lol...but pretty sure it starts with a W as we are east of the Mississippi
But I'm glad you got one too! Mine goes for hours just playing jazz with the occasional break to tell us who the last several songs were or who the next several will be. It must be a publicly funded station (maybe/probably college) because I don't recall ever hearing a commercial or Kenny G.

(35,773 posts)It is publicly funded, and, luckily, they also post the song list online, so I can find out the names and artists of faves.
Cheers!

(53,342 posts)that was a good 8-10 years ago and still no "nukular" weapons.
2naSalit
(86,579 posts)might actually be honestly seeking nukular power rather than weapons. The countries who scream the loudest about the red herring nukular weapons also don't want any other countries to advance socially (you know, like having electricity in the majority of homes and for manufacturing use, etc.) because that would mean they can't be used as poster children for future campaigns of war or whatever ruse of the day could arise to bilk the taxpayers for yet another major economic set back.

(55,745 posts)Not because I think Bibi should be addressing Congress, but because the House is the People's House. If a majority of reps want to allow the head of a foreign nation address them in the middle of crucial peace negotiations, let it be seen by the public. If it's not on tee vee, the People won't see what they're missing, a foreign nation lobby the Senate and House for the sake of advancing War Inc and his country.
Anybody ever read those redacted pages from the Iran-Contra report mentioning Israel and the Reagan Bush White House?
Me neither. And that should be on tee vee, too.
