(37,364 posts)And Ferguson needs to start from scratch with a new police department. I don't know how you even can begin to solve the types of problems in that system. There's not enough time in the world to do it. Just disband the unit and start afresh. No one should have to be at the mercy of this bunch, because that is all it is. Hopefully, you catch Officer Fergeson in a good mood on a good day.

(7,769 posts)Abuses like these can be found from coast to coast.
Cops and their superiors who allow and promote these discriminatory practices need to be held accountable.

(37,549 posts)The individual investigations into Zim and Wilson didn't go anywhere because of the extremely high bar set on the charge. But the pattern and practices investigations? Looks like Holder is doing his job.

(9,154 posts)These cops know exactly what they're doing to people. While the officers may or may not be of low IQ, they are trained by the best minds security money can buy. These cops know they're ruining lives, even though the street cops may not be smart enough to understand all the nuances.

Thus why our communities profit so much from caging up black skin. They paid for that street we drive on with their lives. And that school bus carrying the little white ones to their better equipped and more comfortable facilities. And the deficit we keep low by no longer providing as many governmental job opportunities for black folk who, after all, have little in the way of other places that don't see their skin color.

Here.
Don't mean to derail or take away from the above, but also in Spokane, this paper reported a year or so ago about a black kid coming home upset that he was the only black kid in his class again that year. 25 miles from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, about which the book "Whitopia" is written, and just South of the white enclaves of North Idaho. And in a state with history of murdering, lynching, and jailing IWW members.
Think anyone of color is counting on some idealistic form of justice within a few hundred miles of here?
I believe an injury to one is an injury to all, and this costs everyone, not just those whose lives are directly affected.
