Liberal Party hold huge lead in advance of Prince Edward Island elections.

The P.E.I. Liberals are holding on to their poll lead in advance of an expected spring election call, according to a Corporate Research Associates poll.

The poll was conducted in February, and is the first publicly-released poll since it became clear that Wade MacLauchlan would be the new leader of the Liberal Party. The Progressive Conservatives were in the final weeks of a leadership race that started in December. Rob Lantz was elected leader on the last day of the polling period.

While support for the Liberals appears to have gone up, there is also an apparent drop in satisfaction with the government's performance, from 54 per cent in November to 44 per cent in February.

Parties not in the legislature took a serious hit over the three- month period. Support recorded for the NDP fell from 15 to 12 per cent, and for the Greens from 11 to four per cent.
