(14,691 posts)I wondered what media the press on the truck ahead were from - because they were getting the picture from the front. Meanwhile this CNN viewer saw the back of a lot of people's heads. So, I appreciate the posting of these pics!

That was the point of the OP, not some childish rant using the equally childish (and over played) "M$M".

I bet those first daughters think their dad is the handsomest, most brave, strong, courageous, valiant man alive.
And ditto for Mom.
These photos make me choke up in a way nothing else does. People marching peacefully to be recognized simply for their humanity. Why do we have to keep doing this? When will we ever learn?
Frustrating and moving, all at the same time.

(10,597 posts)... only moving. The song that enters my head is "Oh, Happy Day." It was such a joyous beautiful day in Selma, Alabama. I so wish I could have been there, since the entire celebration couldn't be viewed on TV somehow, someway. I think if we can be patient, someone will indeed show up with some great videos. Remember, they have to return to their hotel/motel rooms, or maybe wait till they get home in order to upload it.

(85,996 posts)Amy Goodman interviewed civil rights luminaries at the foot of the Edmund Pettus Bridge, including 103-year-old Amelia Boynton Robinson, who held President Obamas hand as they marched on the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. Robinson played a key role in organizing the march and invited Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to Selma in 1965. "If you are not a registered voter and you are 18 years of age, you are a hopeless people. Definitely hopeless, because you have nothing to say about your county, your city, your state," Robinson says. Other women honored this weekend as original "foot soldiers" who marched in 1965 include then 13-year-old Mae Taylor Richmond. "As we knelt down to pray," she recalls, "the state troopers threw tear gas besides us, and we proceeded to run back to the church."

and she's still so strong, and beautiful, at 103 years old.
I saw one video clip were she was speaking to everyone on the bridge. I would love to read a write-up on what she had to say.
ReRe
(10,597 posts)... I would love to have heard what she was saying too. There are little digital recorders you can clip on your lapel/collar or breast pocket. She has a very soft voice. Sharp as a tack and a real sweetheart. She was the Angel of the march.

CNN has always had to ability to flood a single story, for good or bad, and people watch. Their problem and it has been for all of their 35 year existence is that if the ____ is not hitting the fan, they struggle for viewers, and their politics leaves much to be desired.
