She's a great lady of American history!!!! A pioneer, a trailblazer. We are blessed for her sacrifices, serving as first lady - the first African-American first lady, in these troubled times.

...before trading his veto for a release on the filibustered vote on Clarance Thomas for Supreme Court engineered by republican senator John Danforth. That extension allowed court-ordered redistricting to double the number of districts with black majorities.

The brief part of the event where she kissed GWB, on the mouth?

He reacted just like a small child, almost in tears, if not actually crying. He looked up at her in awe.

I'm sure he wished Michelle had been his mother instead of that hateful, foul mouthed woman who gave him birth.

The man always struck me as brain damaged, and I don't mean that in a discriminatory way. Many people have been and their personality changes. Some tend to get angry, others weep.

GWB was never up the job of POTUS, and I'm sure he was keenly aware of it.

Just sayin'

The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias wherein unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their ability to be much higher than is accurate.

This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their ineptitude.

Conversely, highly skilled individuals tend to underestimate their relative competence, erroneously assuming that tasks which are easy for them are also easy for others.[1]

As David Dunning and Justin Kruger of Cornell University conclude: "The miscalibration of the incompetent stems from an error about the self, whereas the miscalibration of the highly competent stems from an error about others."[1]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect

The fact that many of his supporters rated ability to be POTUS based on who they'd like to have a beer with, and thought his poor academic and business record made him more sympathetic, is what led to what we have today.

That he was foolish enough to think his brother Jeb's trickery in Florida, along with the rest of the cabal, was necessary to win the POTUS as he couldn't win it honestly, says a lot. His alleged glee at the victory showed he set his sights in life pretty low. His swagger and bravado were just overcompensated for what he didn't possess.

I have to admit I fell into that later category in the Wikipedia entry. It's been a long time waking up and I might have done a lot of things differently in life had I not had high expectations for the wisdom of others. Not that I did anything much more than curse whenever any of the Bush administration showed up on television, though...

His 8 years were so strange, never once did it feel like he was the actual POTUS. Felt more like some cheesy C list actor doing a bad imitation of a president that has no class or brains.

Gerald Ford also seemed to have neurological issues, but he was more like an affable jock who had suffered head injuries. Betty came across as sharp and kind, and she had to be one of the most patient Washington wives.

I LOVED Jimmy Carter as a small child, I thought he was the most decent man I'd ever heard. A true gentleman. Ronald Reagan was a shock to the system. Just the opposite of Carter - arrogant, small minded and like you said...a bad actor trying to pretend to be POTUS.

She probably doesn't care for him. He probably doesn't care for her. They were near each other. Someone took a picture.

Yet life goes on.
