He's a two-month year old, and 46 Senators followed him.
What the hell does that say about the Senate?

(720 posts)I defy the notion that our brothers and sisters from any region are as dumb as Tom Cotton. I'm from the south. I don't wake up every morning and posit, "Well what on Earth can I do today to be as stupid, racist and idiotic as I can"?
Arkansas_Granny sure doesn't. She's a peach. What about folks like me in the deep south like LuvNewcastle, and those in the PNW like countryjake (whom I have not congratulated yet on his win in the photo contest this month!).
I'm pretty sure that people in Alaska, like our esteemed bravenak or Blue_in_AK will also shun the title of red just because they live in a red state.
I'm not sure where you live, but I'm sorry to say, you probably live around some assholes. The point is to flower where ever you are, despite the assholes, and bring some light there. No matter where you live, there will be idiots. Don't be a part of them and stereotype a LOT of people that are trying to see a brighter light and a better future.
bravenak
(34,648 posts)I hate the red state stereotype. We try so hard to educate our neighbors. And we know that one day our hard work will pay off.
I may live in a deeply red state, probably redder than yours, brave, but I will attempt to turn it bluer as best I can.
Giving our party things to love about it instead of just things to hate about it (Like this Tom Cotton fool) would go a long way to helping those who want to galvanize our voters into a force at the polls.
Republicans do not speak my language. I know this already. But just because Democrats are less angry, horrible and nasty doesn't mean they are giving me something to go on to galvanize said voters.
We need a little more than that.
bravenak
(34,648 posts)"They'll kill you harder" does not do it for me.
OT - My God, it's already so damn hot down here that I am ready to scream. I'm 110lbs - it for sure isn't fat that is making me hot. Humidity and damn HEAT have already set it. I had like 3 precious months where I wasn't dying, and it was gloriously cold enough to breathe.
It's only March! Ack!
bravenak
(34,648 posts)I feel hot too. It was like 40 degrees today, I woke up sweating, feeling sick. I hate the heat too. This summer will be terrible. My mom put in a great ac system last year so, I guess I'll be over there.
But the humidity here is horrible. It was 85. In March. We are headed for hell with the humidity. Mid March.
If I woke up and it was 40F I'd be so overjoyed I'd be glad to just get up, put on more clothes and make tea.
This is why nobody can convince me to move back to LA. Too hot. I miss the beach but I never feel that heatstroke feeling.

(38,187 posts)We barely had anything even remotely resembling Winter here in NC and now it is Sprummer. I refuse to call what we have Spring. It might pretend it is, but it is more like Summer in most places.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)I'd jump out of bed and make all of you breakfast and be pleased that I wasn't going to burn up.
Jamastiene
(38,187 posts)I'm the same way with the heat. I constantly fight with my aunt about the thermostat. I wish there was a way to keep it the 80 (might as well be 80,000 to me) in her room and keep it nice and cool in my room.
I got overheated and sick today because of the heat. It gives me a headache too and makes me nauseated. I overheat really easily. I'd love to go somewhere that is cooler and stay there. I wish we had a real winter here instead of that extended fall that counts as winter. We don't have a real Spring either. I call it Sprummer, because it's March and already so hot.
bravenak
(34,648 posts)I fight with my landlord because he keeps the heat on in the hallways all Summer long. I usually go and turn it down at the source. I think our summer is like spring in other places. I love it. When you get ready you should check this place out. It's nice.

(34,648 posts)He's from Cali too and swears he needs it hot because of that. I told him to go home, he came to the wrong place.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)is hating NC's heat, and I am detesting the Gulf Coasts heat, at some point, as solitary travelers we'll meet, converge and cross the desert, like in Resident Evil.
We will make it to the sanctuary of Alaska.

(34,648 posts)You can dodge conservative zombies on the way up. California is running out of water so, don't go through there. Too dangerous.
