Amazon is great! I returned something, got a refund for it, but they still sent me a replacement....

I emailed them to tell them that they had sent me a replacement even though they had already given me a refund, and this was their reply:

Hello,

I completely understand your concern that you have received the duplicate order and now you want the return the item.

As you are the valuable customer of Amazon and such a lovely customer of Amazon, so you don't need to return the item you can keep the item as gift from Amazon.

Thank you for taking time to contact Amazon.com. We hope you'll keep us in mind for your future purchases.

Best regards,
Aman D

How cool is that? (and I think it's the first time anyone ever called me a "lovely customer"....)

The box had defective printed on it and the item did not work. I contacted Amazon about it and the seller contacted me, refunded my money and told me to throw the item away. I was expecting to have to go the the post office, pay the postage to return.

I was happy it turned out with no action on my part but to contact Amazon.

Depending on the merchandise it might not be worth it to them. Sometimes it is hard to understand why a company would give up an item that cost 25 dollars in order to save 5 more. It can make good sense from a companies perspective under the proper conditions.
