the whole area was so barren, no greenery. And some areas where so white, guess it is different viewing it when in a plane!

I remember you from the animal you inherited, LOL.

I then wondered if Omaha-Steve lived there but never thought of contacting him. We were on a very tight schedule to get to Omaha and back to BC within 2-1/2 days.

Trying to guess what you mean..there is a lot of barren ground in those areas..at least arid. Just guessing.

basically you have this big-ass thing that irrigates in a circle, hence, the circles.

From looking down on a plane it is so different! Some were square shaped especially over Salt Lake City!

12. When my mom was still alive I flew to SLC many times. Irrigation does look bizarre from above....

The giant circles are from center-pivot irrigation systems in a desert environment. That's why the edges are so stark and unnatural.

I always took the squares to be plots for future non-agricultural development, and/or parking lots for already-existing schools, plants, and businesses, as I usually could see buildings of some sort along one or two edges of the square.

Bet you're glad to be back where water just falls from the sky!
