Here's what a REAL punishment for sports cheating looks like: $100 million fine

When the McLaren team were caught cheating, they were fined $100 million!
And, excluded from any possibility of competing that year, all their competition points were taken away, and excluded from earning more, with the result that they were put in last place for that year.

(I guess think of it as having all your wins taken away and being relegated to the worst in the standings, with no option to rise, even if you win a game).

So, I think Patriots fans should take their puny fine, 4 game ONE PLAYER suspension, and draft pick losses and be grateful it wasn't worse.

Full disclosure: I know f*ck-all about football, but Ed Schultz has covered the story from the beginning, and the facts seem pretty clear to me!

I wasn't suggesting they not be allowed to play. McLaren was still allowed to compete, and did so. Coventina May 2015 #9

And think just how much financially that would kill part of the region in so many ways. It'd take a nice dagger and stab it pretty well in the revenue loss. And I'm not talking about the team itself, but everything else.

They just weren't allowed to benefit from it, aside from experience and technical information.

They have a good case too. Way overboard when you compare it to other punishments in the NFL.

For example Lance Armstrong lost his Tour de France titles for cheating. People in international sports get banned for a couple of years.

Instead the NFL suspends cheaters for a mere fraction of a season.
