There are more than 60 death row inmates on Federal Death Row...

The odds are long and the time will be long before we see a Federal execution, the last one was in 2003 and there are currently on death row: 62 (as of 2014) Total number executed: 37 (1927-2003).

There are more than 3,000 in the US total last year, 35 were executed.

For those who support the DP, you have your wish. For those opposed, it is very possible Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will die before he is executed.

marym625 Could you support a "death penalty" that does not result in a Gov induced death? MyUncle May 2015 #5
yep, strange question marym625 May 2015 #8
I think the probability of another federal execution is small and still falling Sen. Walter Sobchak May 2015 #6

But I don't support the death penalty. I don't support torture. I have empathy for every person in a supermax prison or whatever it's called.

I know, weird question. The DP might also cross over in to "torture" that you also oppose. In reality death by death penalty does not happen very often relative to the sentence. There is an entirely different set of issues here at play. Good comment.

You didn't reply to me so I am just seeing this now.

I am not sure what you mean. Would I support a death penalty if given by someone other than the government? Absolutely not. But I don't know what you mean.

Unless some future Attorney General makes it their mission to push the file. And even then a federal prosecutor told me that even under John Ashcroft demands to push the files to execution were basically ignored.

The federal and military death penalty is basically a victim of total institutional indifference to it's very existence.
