(50,572 posts)Since I have been in the workforce, the only time I didn't work either for a corporation (a construction intended to insulate its owners from the finances of the company) or for the government, the guy was so freakin' far in the hole he had to live at the store. Fortunately the "store" was a Ramada Inn, but still: if you cannot afford to live away from your company, you should think hard about whether you are financially prepared to be in business.

(17,301 posts)I worked on a Mom and Pop organic farm when I was younger. They were not rich by any stretch of the imagination. But they ate well and were happy.
So yes poor people do create jobs. I sometimes think RepubliCONS live in an imaginary world. They don't seem able to see what is in front of them.

(50,572 posts)Seriously rich people don't directly create jobs, they invest and let other people create jobs with their money. You're a lot more likely to work for a middle-class person with really good credit, or a poor person who will be living in a refrigerator box if his business fails, than a rich person.

Like Nick Hanauer once said -
" . . . people who are richer are not benefiting the economy more in proportion, they cant buy 10000 pillows because they are richer, or 5000 cars, there is a limit to their ability to spend, which is not the case for the, currently, poor/poorer ones.
Those are the ones that could really boost an economy up."

(841 posts)... when our software team worked hard on a discovery project for several weeks to propose a project to a major chip manufacturer.
But when we were notified by our manager that we did not get a response from the prospective client to our proposal by a certain date he expressed his "compassion" towards us by telling us about the big bonuses that he and his boss consequently failed to get! Yeah, he really "felt our pain", alright.
