I am the wife of 7wo7rees.

This mess is difficult to deal with, especially for survivors, of which I am. My father started "fondling" me when I was just 11. I went to my Mom, told her and she believed my Dad. He made my life a living hell for 6 more years.

Jim Bob reminds me of my father. He makes incredibly sorry excuses. The one that comes to mind for me most is when my Dad gave me the Playboy with the letter from the daughters' thanking Daddy for loving them so much he wanted to teach them about sex.

I am appalled, disappointed and sick at this whole affair.

It's been a few difficult days for us, the survivors' of family abuse.

I wish the media would be more responsible.

The Learning Channel just needs to let the Duggar Family go.

If not for DU, I would have no idea who the Duggars were, that they had kids, and that there was any problem with them.

They're that tangential to my life. The only reason that they're important here is for making sure everybody hates them because, well, they're not us. We like that kind of self-affirmation through denigration. Even as we deny we do it because we're above the level of the knuckledragging mouthbreathers that insist on name-calling. (Well, we used to be. DU's changed in the last few years so pointless, mind-numbing mockery is, by some, considered higher-order thinking. It's that whole in/out-group nonsense.)

It's part of being human. Well, primates, at least.

Those who follow them like gossiping just as much, but of a different stripe. Their self-affirmation is similar but different.

Ignore the threads that deal with them and you'll find they recede into the background where they belong.

The Duggars are also anti-choice and anti-birth control. Women have to submit to their men and be continually pregnant, even if it kills them. That's pro-life?

Their sheer and utter hypocrisy is why they are hated.

The Duggar parents's behavior is almost more appalling than their son's. Aside from their poor choices in reaction to the abuse, they chose to put their family in the spotlight. Having Oprah's team turn over the letter to authorities should have been a GIANT clue to them.

I never told my Mom -- strangely, I thought she would believe me, throw out the breadwinner, and we'd be destitute. Odd how children think.

Ironically, when it all came out in my adulthood because he laid hands on my little girl, not only did my mother stay with him, she thought it could all still be kept a secret.

As codependent as that was, it pales in comparison to the sickness on display by the Duggars.

to keep them on air. i'm sure they are trying to figure out a way to keep this on air. the best for them would have been for the news to die down a bit and work out some deal where josh moves away and is no longer part of the show and maybe have some show where it's just the family talking about the usual god, getting through things etc.

but their comments downplaying what happened , the excuses, putting the victims out to defend him etc just make it worse.

Rage doesn't even cover how I feel about the Duggar family and their sick cult. Two of my sisters were sexually abused by their foster father who was a pastor. They were both under the age of 5. Then when the older of them was 9, I threatened to kill a guy that was attempting to molest her as she was sleeping. I came onto the scene and picked up a baseball bat. I told him I would knock his head off of his shoulders. I don't actually remember much of it, I vaguely remember the bat and dropping it as we approached our house, because we weren't at our home when this happened we walked home when it was very very dark. Anyway, this shit pisses me off comments like "people are titillated over the Duggar coverage" piss me off to no end. I am not titillated, I am pissed.
