... of burying one's own child.

We anticipate the loss of our grandparents, our parents, our elders, even our spouses. But seeing a child leave this life before us can never be prepared for, nor fully accepted.

Not in the public eye like they're having to. It's the single most horrific thing a parent can ever have to endure, and they're having to share it with the entire world. I'm just not that strong of a person.

have to attend the funeral of his child and no small child should have to attend the funeral of a parent. The Biden family has been through so much already. So difficult to look at those photos of such deep grief.

My husband's mother died when he was 12 and to this day (he's 64), he cannot bring himself to talk about losing her. The pain has never gone away.

Thoughts and prayers for the Biden family. There are truly no words.

I cannot begin to imagine the pain if one of mine died.
It's been my nightmare since they were born.

It would shatter me...

My heart is breaking for this family... but they do deserve to grieve in peace. I can't imagine what that would have done to me.

...it's far too easy (and likely) that this pain and grief will be brushed aside and republicans and others will feel free to launch full-throttle attacks on the Vice-President in other forums, such as Cruz did the other day. That's why I wrote, 'Lest We Forget' in the title. Sensitivity and understanding is important at this time, given the very public role VP Biden still has to perform, and people should be aware of that.

Because it is their pain, and it hurts to much to see someone suffer. I can't use it for political gain in any sense. This was not an attack on you, a candidate or a political figure. These were simply my own thoughts.
