Here is a story from the Washington Post:

Here are the first 3 paragraphs at the above link. It makes the apology more important than the mocking insult to Biden. So I was wrong, the media will cover for Cruz, and only those who have a brain will see him for what he is

"On Wednesday night, while addressing a group of Republicans in Michigan, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), a GOP presidential candidate, continued what is apparently a Cruz-on-the-campaign-trail tradition: He told a joke about Vice President Biden.
"Of course, this time was different. Biden's son, Beau, passed away Saturday night at 46. The funeral is set for this weekend.
Now, politicians say dumb stuff all the time. But they rarely do what Cruz did afterward -- apologize unequivocally".
The media is covering for Cruz. If he was a Democrat, this would not happen. Lots of talk on this... forever, and forever.....like Benghazi, Benghazi, ..over and over and over.

(12,157 posts)And you think those who voted for him have a brain? That's wishful thinking. They parked what brain cells they had with Sean Insanity, Flush Limberger and FAUX Snooze.

(7,415 posts)You see politicians are SO USED to giving the same speech over and over that they just go on auto pilot and spew it out and don't even realize what the words are saying....so you see he just blurted out his standard old stump speech and the nasty comments about VP BIden and didn't even know he said them!! Because he just always says the same things over and over without thinking.
Yes, she actually offered that as a very reasonable explanation.

(37,748 posts)Well, Cruz never actually said "THE" word, "he has a good reputation", and "did not call him anything..." Maybe he "just got caught up in the moment." "It isn't evidence of anything. It's ambiguous, mysterious, hard to know exactly what he was thinking..." Could be it was "a mistake. A correctable mistake."
