the GOP presidential race and racism
As far as I can tell, not one of the GOP presidential candidates was willing to come out and say the Charleston shooting was racially motivated, even though it obviously was (the shooter said it was!).
So either these candidates can't imagine racism exists, or they are afraid if they mention white on black racism, it will piss off their base. The first possibility is just jaw-droppingly stupid or incredibly ignorant.
The second is absolutely nauseating-- they are essentially enabling more racism.
Either way, their reactions should disqualify them from getting elected.
the early days of the Republican Party, circa 1855 and do some research in that period, you will be blown away by seeing the Republicans of 1860 and beyond using the same divisive tactics to seize power that they are now doing. It is a repeat job. Their political personalities had already formed by 1860 and have not changed one bit.
Some good historian should use this as a thesis for a good new political history book.
By the way, the Southern Caucasians haven't changed very much either since that time. From the living human perspective, evolution is a very slow process. The African Americans are emerging for the shock of being captured, enslaved and then freed from slavery but with no support. They are fully realizing the depth of their mistreatment.
"Sew the wind and reap the whirlwind."
All while humans are imaging the extent of their power, the laws of physics continue to determine the unfolding of ALL events.
but the Dems were no better back in the 1860s and maybe even worse overall. But the important things is they EVOLVED.
It's beyond ridiculous that the GOP defends white racism TODAY.
