truthful perhaps 18% of the time, is now picking who can run for president?

(15,805 posts)How did the Republicans ever think that allowing a TV network (even one as partisan as FOX), rather than the GOP political party, to pick the debate participants, was a good idea? Networks are in the business of making money, and to do that they need a really great show with lots of controversy and plenty of fighing. FOX is the ultimate ringmaster of this circus, and these clowns will be falling all over themselves to provide viewers with the best comedy show in town.
Still, there's something inherently wrong in letting the manager of cable TV company choose which Republican gets to advance while the also rans are kicked to the curb and will likely lose whatever support and funding they had because no one wants a loser... and FOX has effectively killed their campaigns by branding them as losers. I never thought I'd see the GOP fall this low.

(20,002 posts)that Larry Sabato suggested as a possibility on Rachel's show tonight is that the RNC didn't want to have to pick winners and losers so they unloaded that dirty work onto Fox--which has already botched it by skipping poll #5 which would have apparently included Rick Perry.
