Prophet 451
(9,796 posts)Let's start with the fact that actual research has shown that women are just as indiscriminatly horny as men. The difference is that women are less likely to pursue those feelings for many reasons (some of which are entirely socially constructed).
Secondly, while a lot of people (maybe most people) do fall somewhere between the extremes (including myself, I'm smack in the middle of the Kinsey scale), there are also a lot of people who are firmly on one end or the other.
Control-Z
(15,683 posts)but you've saved me the trouble. I feel the same except I fall comfortably on the straighter end.

(13,390 posts)It is a sound argument rooted in biological facts.
Prophet 451
(9,796 posts)Being gay, straight or bisexual are natural and normal variations in the human condition, as morally neutral as having brown or green eyes. And more scientific evidence for this accumulates daily.

(10,558 posts)Call me strange but I confess to a degree of happiness when the team I am rooting for scores but truth be told it never gave me an erection.
On a related note: I am a fan of the Seattle Seahawks, been watching them since Lincoln was President. Now I am not normally given to superstitious stuff but...... every single time that the Hawks have lost, and I mean EVERY, loss came after a night that I did not get 'lucky' with a Seahawks cheerleader! Strange huh? I've been thinking of contacting the coaching staff about this curious statistic but I suspect they would just laugh at me.

(82,383 posts)straight and gay men in terms of relative horniness? What's the issue and what are you arguing against?
He's saying there's no such thing as gay men. It's just that straight men are just so damn horny that they do each other!
originalpckelly
(24,382 posts)but there are definitely gay guys.
I know this, I'm one of them.

(47,713 posts)xfundy's superscientific study says different, though. You're straight, you're horny, and by golly there's just no girls around!

What is bullshit about straight/gay?
What does "guys are horny period" have to do to the "bullshit" you think?

(115,686 posts)Yup, only guys are horny. Being horny is what determines sexual orientation. Sexual orientation is all about sex.
And the jury voted to leave this 1-5. Incredible.

(2,286 posts)I just sent an alert as well. It's insulting to the community to allow this crap. No wonder so many people have left.
uppityperson
(115,686 posts)and yes, 1-5 to leave. I was at least the 3rd to alert as I have seen something elsewhere from someone else saying they'd alerted on it also.

(5,105 posts)I didn't think i hit the post button on this one. Yes, really.
But, what I was trying to get into is something along these lines--
I'm gay. Never even had a flicker of attraction to girls, except as great friends. I've been hit on by married guys, some of whom get pissed off if I tell them I'm not going to be a party to cheating. I'm not claiming to be irresistible or any kind of catch, and haven't had a date in a couple of years.
The idea of classifying people as one or the other is harmful, as should be obvious. (I should have been gender inclusive in the OP.) Many gay people, myself once included, considered bi a cop-out. The fact of the matter is people should start worrying about their own lives and stay out of others'.
Near the turn of the century, after Magnus Hirschfeld devised the classification, fundies, "doctors," and uptight society types made an industry out of demonizing people, and that industry is thriving now.
The insistence on dividing/demonizing based on something as personal as sex is dangerous to society. yet some have put so much misplaced "pride" in being heterosexual, the problem has become compounded and probably intractable.
A discussion I didn't then and don't now have the energy or intelligence to solve.
So, apologies for the post.
uppityperson
(115,686 posts)sorry for yelling but hoping others might see it. Thanks, it happens. Another possibility might be to self delete the OP since that way no one else would read, reply? I heard you have a dry sense of humor and thought it might be that, miscommunication. Thanks again.
