1. Why would gun legislation prevent someone from owning and shooting guns?

That's why gun control never makes progress in this country. The ones who want it have convinced the ones who own guns that confiscation is the endgame.

because he failed a background check and wasn't able to get the gun in the first place.

I suspect it was intended as advocacy of gun prohibition, but that's certainly a plausible alternative explanation.

But the only text says "Without effective gun legislation" and "With".
No mention of a prohibition

7. Sure. It hinges on the interpretation of "effective."

No mention of prohibition...but no mention of background checks, either.

It's a bit ironic that in practical terms, universal background checks would be far more effective than extreme measures like prohibition. With the exception of a small minority of radical "no gummint" idiots, the nation's tens of millions of gun owners support background checks. Prohibition, on the other hand, would face absolutely massive non-compliance.

9. Holding a handgun turns most human beings into morons.

The few exceptions have names like "007" or "Agent J."

But volunteering for such is just a different flavor of stupidity.

In any situation where a handgun becomes useful, everything is already FUBAR, and the outcomes will be entirely random and mostly tragic.

How do you substantiate 'most'?

Or is it just your opinion?

In other words, its an unsubstantiated assertion, likely based on your biased opinion.

Ok.
