Why Jeb Bush Sees Himself as the John McCain of 2016, September 30, 2015Speaking to ABC News today, Bush offered an anecdote about a previous GOP candidate whose chances seemed slim.
This time, eight years ago, John McCain was traveling through the Atlanta airport. I saw him and he had no aide, no person, (he was) by himself because his campaign was supposed to be ended," Bush said of the Arizona senator. He won the Republican primary that year. This is how the process works; you have to go earn it.
While Bushs events are well-attended, they are no match for the likes of fellow candidates Donald Trump and Ben Carson, who have seen their stadium events packed with thousands of people.
It doesnt frustrate me at all, Bush said. "Because I know at the end, the people Im talking to and listening to are going to be the ones who will decide who the nominee will be and I believe I will be that person.

Yeah, Bush's Fat Cat Donors, consultants, and perhaps, Karl Rove himself, are busily crunching the numbers.
We've seen this movie several times now.
Don't ever doubt that they will try to steal it.
And, by the way, I wonder if King Jeb! has his own special "Person" to wipe his entitled brow, or something. What an offensive attitude.
Old news for Floridians about this Bush.

(13,616 posts)I will be the first to admit John had much much more rights to the job then ANY Bush. Do not let the polls foll anyone, this is a classic Jeb move, stand next to a raving loon, then do the "see, I am better by comparison." It actually backfired on him in Florida as the Tea party picked Rick Scott, but he will try to be the "compassionate conservative": to appeal to all those forlorn former enemies, the same way his sister in spirit Hillary will go "see, I am your only choice."

(9,387 posts)The screeching hyena got his attention. But, his choice would probably be Condoleezza Rice, to keep it in the neocon family.

(14,593 posts)That's OK. Bush's so-called 'solid conservative policies' suck. We're definitely better off without Jeb anywhere near the White House.

(6,133 posts)Right now, I don't know because big money makes all the difference. Whoever they choose will have huge financial support.
And those television ads that I would never believe actually work.

(12,228 posts)and consistent with a growing list of disserving public statements he can only hope will be forgotten should the "McCain strategy" succeed. Unlike Kerry who persevered through his rough primary patch so that certain of his followers here despaired, it was not hard work or astuteness that made for the great McCain comeback. Bill Clinton certainly worked for his as have other strong candidates. The bozos for the GOP simply popped their own balloons and left no other choice. And those people were better than what is offered now politically speaking- including failed retreads blowing another spare tire. The mechanics of defeat have infected all the candidates including Jeb. If he could really just keep his mouth shut and get sick for the early debates or something the default button might work.
No, the establishment default button is busted. It was busted when no-other-choice McCain moved his walker over the bodies and he was allowed to pick Palin.
The Kochs representing failed Libertarian presidential campaigns of their own are also perennial losers doubling down hard. In the mechanics of the one per-center default button they are a big wad of dessicated chewing gum.
IF everyone is destroyed, sure, then the guy with the most cash can crawl out of the zombie pile. The money can even smooth over the inevitable horror and paper over defeat with greenbacks so that maybe Jeb won't be seen as incredibly terrible at politics as he insists on remaining. Can't help remaining.
No, it is not Trump sucking life out of establishment politics. Apparently it has something to do with rotten big money itself.

(54,447 posts)That should do him about as much good as Palin did for McCain. Fine with me. Should yield the same result.
