Curious to think how DUers feel about this.

(37,324 posts)We have to keep a wide ranging discussion. And guns are an important part of American culture. You can't cut out something that is so devastating to society just because it's unpleasant.

(303 posts)in terms of emotional maturity, america is stuck at an 8th grade level.
the gun culture and its associations are simply a security blanket for the insecure at heart.

(11,417 posts)make any difference? Being a Dem doesn't make them a more acceptable gun owner as being repub doesn't make them a more offensive gun owner as far as guns are concerned.

(18,636 posts)a litmus test to be a Democrat? Pew puts gun ownership among Democrats at about 23%; what percentage is needed before a minority group can advocate their position? Is every gun owner offensive?

(36,845 posts)Though, I am not adverse to the idea. The Gungeon is a stain on DU, imho.
They should also rethink allowing Fox News analysts while they are at it.

That would of course mean no discussion of Bernie on DU.

(63,912 posts)That works out well since it makes DU work nicely for me. Therefore, I do not need to care whether it is here or not. For all extents and purposes it is not here for me.

(25,406 posts)Just as conspiracy crap, Israel/Palestine and religion are issues that can still be discussed on DU, just not in GD. Without the gun forum, gun stuff would be in GD (which many of us don't want) or gun stuff would be banned from being discussed anywhere on DU (which would be unprecedented). People can always trash the gun forum if they want to or just never go there.

(9,086 posts)Some liberals seem determined to drive all gun owners out of the Democratic Party and force them to vote somewhere else.
Not a good idea.

How often do you see some asshole defending a police shooting of a black man, or George Zimmerman, or objecting to racist Oklahoma frat boys being punished--and then look at their profile and see "Favorite Group: RKBA?"
