Wisconsin Natural Resources Board unanimously gives go-ahead to draft regulations for fall wolf hunt

The Natural Resources Board has given state wildlife officials the go-ahead to develop the rules for this fall's wolf hunt.

Republican Gov. Scott Walker signed a bill this spring authorizing a wolf hunt beginning on Oct. 15. The Department of Natural Resources must flesh out details such as quotas and hunting zone structures.

The governor has given the DNR the green light to start drafting the rules. Agency officials needed approval from the board before they could begin, though.

The agency hopes to have the rules finished by July. The board and the governor would then have to sign off on them.
