Tenn. county to consider resolution begging God to spare them ‘His coming wrath’ over same-sex marri

http://www.rawstory.com/2015/10/tenn-county-to-consider-resolution-begging-god-to-spare-them-his-coming-wrath-over-same-sex-marriage/

On Monday, the Blount County Board of Commissioners will consider a resolution asking God to spare their region from “His coming wrath” because the “lawless judiciary” of the U.S. is forcing them recognize same-sex marriages.

The proposal has been put forth by Commissioner Karen Miller and is listed on the docket as “Resolution condemning judicial tyranny and petitioning God’s mercy. (Resolution 15-10-006)”

The resolution begins: “Whereas, the Governor, Attorney General, and ALL WE Blount County Legislators have sworn an oath consistent with the moral Law of God (“So Help Me God”) to uphold the Constitution of Tennessee and the Constitution of the United States; and Whereas, the fulfillment of this oath, in the American tradition, may not be read to contradict the written Constitution, Justice, Reason and higher Natural Law…” before turning to Commissioner Miller’s grievances.

That's against God's law. And we will overlook worshiping money and riches, and we will over look treating the poor and sick like dirt in this country and we will forget about all those stores and gas stations owned by my fellow Christians that are open for business every Sunday and uh all the mega churches and prosperity preachers making the church a den of thief's and all the heretic false prophets that are continually wrong that should be stoned to death and all the gun nuts that live by the sword in the churches and all the Christians who try to avoid paying their taxes and damn our government officials like President Obama and those who hold big public prayer meetings to make a big show about how holy they are compared to the rest of us dirty rotten sinners but....forget about all that and a million other evil things we have done in Your Name and....

Forgive us for not persecuting those evil gay people's and making their lives a living hell on earth!

If we consider theology, instead of politics, then, yes, it is stupid. The god she worships is presumably the one who's omniscient and who therefore already knows exactly how everybody in the county feels about marriage equality. She doesn't need to try to get a story into the local paper.
