What was a 1000 year event 50 years ago is probably more like a 100 year event nowadays. And in another 20 or 30 years of unchecked climate change, may well become a 10 year event.

One thing is for sure - there will be jobs related to infrastructure in South Carolina.
This will cost billions.

a job killer. Depends on what type of job you want. Personally I think jobs building and maintaining solar panels seem like good ones.

the entire state still has to go through the rivers cresting as the water collects and flows toward the coast. This could be epic.
BTW there are 500 roads out that they know of. I would be careful driving on any bridge.

Have they in fact failed?

One of my best friends lives in SC. I touched base with her last evening, and her property had not been damaged. She was just barely beyond the point where the damage was experienced.
