An apology to the DU, Hillary & her group, and BainsBane (updated with video)

Last edited Thu Oct 8, 2015, 10:36 PM - Edit history (1)

If I left anyone out it isn't intentional.

I also thank the many DUers that offered support and understand just how FTD works on the mind.

The mail was very helpful too.

Somehow Monday I got the idea the NRA post had been debunked. It got to me.

It now seems I was in error.

As somebody pointed out this will happen again. I have no way of predicting when.

Not so long ago I sent an email to a DUer. Should it ever become public the DU would more than likely would have to ban me. It was that bad. As far as I know it has never been shared with anyone. That DUer is a class act.

It may be a day or two before I start posting. After the episodes end I get very depressed.

FTD awareness week got a lot of mileage out of me. I doubt there is a DUer now that isn't aware.

Again a sincere apology to the DU, Hillary & her group, BainsBane, and anyone I didn't include.

Regards,

OS

Well done!

I never intentionally visit either group (though I have responded to posts on the home page without looking to see which group they came from), but I get that things get heated--as in active lava flow.

In your condition, it must get withering. Obviously, you have the capacity to cool down. As they might say in Brooklyn, that's what distinguishes a man from a Mensch.

Frontotemporal degeneration is characterized by progressive atrophy of several different areas of the
brain, particularly the frontal and/or temporal lobes, the parts of the brain that control “executive
functions” such as decision-making, personality, social behavior and language.

Thu Oct 8, 2015, 11:43 PM
Oct 2015

but you joined within a year of me joining, and whenever I see a post by you, I know I want to read it. Your name brings good happy vibes in my head from my non-specific memories over the years. There are less than a handful of posters I can relate to that way, and I've been on DU at least lurking since 2003.

Also, my Mom, who just passed away on September 1st, was diagnosed with dementia earlier this year. Not FTD specifically, not Alzheimers, but scans showed her brain was literally dying and disappearing. Unless you love someone with dementia, and spend a good deal of time with them, you just can't know what it is, you just can't grasp and really feel it.

I'm really fond of you and I'm glad you are here.

On edit: My Dad was just diagnosed with dementia also, in August, and since Mom's passing, he's getting worse. But they are/were in their 80s.

Even when ill, one can say or do hurtful things.
When that happens, an apology is in order.
I'm glad and grateful that you have risen to that occasion.

DU is family. Family stick together and forgives as necessary and moves on.
You, Steve, are an important part of the DU family, and we want you here with us, contributing as you do, to our awareness, and to support one another.

Thank you for being you, Steve.
