New Drone Attacks Worsen Pakistan-USA Relations
Islamabad, May 24 (Prensa Latina) Two drone attacks in two days in a row, the first after the NATO Summit in Chicago was held, increase tension in the Pakistan-USA relations.
On Thursday, a drone launched its missiles against a mosque in the Mir Ali Hasukhel town, in North Waziristan, as the faithful were saying their morning prayers.
The corpses of 10 people were pulled out of the rubble, but a Pakistani Security official noted the death toll could increase since at least a dozen people in serious conditions were taken to a hospital.
On Wednesday, a drone hit a house in Data Khel town, also in North Waziristan, killing four people that were supposedly members of the Taliban and Al Qaeda groups that are active in the aforementioned zone.
According to the international media and analysts, such events jeopardize the reconciliation process of Pakistan and the United States as a result of the November 26 NATO air raids against checkpoints located in the border with Afghanistan. The Barack Obama administration has been constantly putting pressure on reopening supply lines to NATO without offering anything in return since it continues the drone attacks and refuses to apologize for the deaths of the soldiers guarding the border.
