(15,811 posts)I got in trouble one Sunday morning. On our way home from church I asked my very GOP father why Jesus was accused of being what my dad was. He about drove off the road in shock, demanding to know where I got such ideas. So I told him that our Sunday School lesson had been about this verse:
"The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!" Luke 7:34
Mom barely suppressed a chuckle, Grandma giggled, Dad just kept driving.

(45,319 posts)Meanwhile in Uganda where 44% of the population is Catholic, Francis and his Bishops forbid the use of condoms and oppose sexual and health education. 13% of Ugandans say they have used a condom even once, 7.2% of the population lives with HIV, over 60,000 Ugandans die each year, this number is 10 times greater than the US death toll in spite of the fact that the US is 10 times larger in population.
The number of orphans created by AIDS deaths in Uganda is said to be around 650,000. This of course does not count those families left with a single parent, often also with the virus.
And yet this man seems to think that the threat to the family is that people want to get married. Imagine the swift results that this man could create with mere permission to use protection, and to teach people how to protect themselves.
I strongly disagree with this man's policies.
