Confederate supporters, dissenters turn out (MI)

HILLSDALE — Hillsdale County has rippled with news of a former Bob Evans Farms employee who lost his job over the Confederate flag flying from his truck. Saturday afternoon’s rally across the street from the plant was the crest of one of those waves.

Confederates of Michigan ... organized the rally ...

But not everyone at the rally sympathized with the symbol: Elizabeth and Rita Wells fashioned their own modest pickets and displayed them nearby to express dissent. Their messages — like “It belongs in a museum,” “All you need is love” and “Teach your children well” — flew in stark opposition to the flags nearby.
