My Nephew just received his promotion to Staff Sergeant (Air Force)

He is my late sister's youngest son. I honestly could not be a prouder "Blue Star" Auntie. He is coming home for a visit, tomorrow and I can't wait to congratulate him, in person.

I have 3 nephews in the military. What a hard thing to face for the entire family. No jobs, few prospects and the military offered them a career and the ability to feel like they have accomplished something. One is now ready to leave and already has a good job lined up. But fortunately none of them have been in combat. Keeping fingers crossed for all of our children.

I think he might just end up as a career guy. He is in 'cyber transportation' which sounds a bit mysterious, to me.

I was honored to attend his graduation from basic training. He was his unit's honor recruit, and oddly enough, I was the honor recruit for my Navy training unit.

My Dad was in the Marines, and was so proud of me when I enlisted in the Navy. Now I understand how he felt.
